Mixing Shapes and Styles: Pairing Round Accent Tables with Other Furniture

Mixing Shapes and Styles: Pairing Round Accent Tables with Other Furniture

Unlike coffee tables, which typically take on typical square forms, accent tables can be just about any shape. On top of that, their complementary nature means that they’re meant to stand alongside other pieces as opposed to being the centerpiece. This means that it’s easy to mix and match accent tables with other forms of décor that are less organic, more industrial, or any other style that makes the overall room more aesthetically diverse. That’s especially the case with rounded accent tables, which offer a distinct difference that contrasts with correlating accordingly.

Ring in Style with the “Squared Circle”

The most obvious way to contrast round accent tables is with squared or even cylindrical pieces that serve other functions. From there, materials and aesthetics should be considered, and these can go two ways: either contrasting wildly or matching. For instance, the Mila Round Coconut Shell Accent Table isn’t square at all, and as the name suggests, it’s made from a sustainable coconut shell source that visually looks very different from most living room décor. There are even four different colors schemes, so there’s really no limit in terms of what kind of décor it can fit in with.

Looking to keep things within the coconut shell parameters? Mosaic 39" Rectangular Recycled Coconut Shell Coffee Table is a great way to have a unified look for a living room, especially alongside the white or blue version of the accent table. The same goes with the Juliette Square Recycled Coconut Shell 16" Accent Table with Storage, which can coincide well as an additional while also offering a helpful alternate to clutter. Likewise, the square nature of the Juliette will contrast with the rounded Mila, keeping things within the same material scope while still offering visual diversity. This confluence of coconut and color will help to create a natural aura in the entire room, adding coastal vibes to any environment.

Embrace the Beat of a Different Drum with Cylindrical Accent Tables

Round accent tables don’t just have to be big “circles,” with cylinder accent tables having just as much of an organic overtone. Combining the less conventional shapes of round accent tables with slightly more conventional yet still stylized forms, there’s as much of an exotic aspect to these pie es as with the round coconut shell accent tables. The Quinn Bayur Wood 16" Drum Side Table definitely lives up to its name, looking right out of the tropics while being perfect for the indoors. Made from kiln-dried bayur wood that uniquely shows every unique grain of the finish, it’s easy to slot right beside a couch or chair. Concaving for a slimmer base, the frame of the piece offers a place for tabletop décor without taking up too much space.

To complement this piece, consider or blatantly “natural” or tropical décor. For instance, the brown base of the Mila Round Coconut Shell 35" Pedestal Coffee Table goes along nicely with the Quinn Drum Side Tables, and even though they’re different materials with somewhat different aesthetics, they still coincide for an aesthetic that’s a sort of rustic take on verdant. The Felix Four Column Console Table is made of mango wood and boasts a design that, while fairly traditional, is also rounded in its legs and edges. It also has a somewhat thin frame that could arguably have it be used as an entryway console or anywhere else that needs a table that uses as little space as possible. This all provides for the best of both worlds that allow the table to work well on its own or alongside rounded accent tables such as the Quinn.

Embrace Oddities with Unconventional Accent Tables

“Round” accent tables take several different shapes, and they’re not all just cylinders or big circles. The Zara 14” Side Table Table is closer to a cross between a totem pole and temple architecture than most accent tables, and this design premise was intentional to make it stand out in the world of exotic home décor. Displaying rustic woodgrains in every one of its “bulbs,” it’s hard to imagine the piece not instantly drawing attention in whatever room it’s placed in. Thus, it might make sense to get two, creating a unified vision that makes things feel more complete.

The Olive Geometric Solid Wood Side Table is perfect for declaring “checkmate” on boring décor. Looking like a gigantic chess piece, this mango wood piece is artistically unique, with its dark brown hue creating a striking visual. Consider placing it in the middle of corresponding chairs such as the Shiloh Occasional Chair, with the vibrant orange being complimented and somewhat subdued with the brown color of the accent table.

Other original designs include the Allura Asymmetrical Solid Munggur Wood 12" Side Table, coming off as an abstract vase of a table. While it certainly cuts a distinct visual, users might also want additional tablescape space given its small frame. This is likely why it’s commonly paired with the Armos Round Solid Munggur Wood 14" Side Table, which is made from the same material but looks very different. Both are examples of how more rounded or original designs can make for eclectic interiors, showcasing how furniture doesn’t all have to fit in the same “square” peg. Whether they stand alone, stand together or stand concurrently with established style, these accent tables are the best way to make a home more well-rounded.
