Console tables for an entryway, a hallway or behind a sofa. Nineteen designs in solid wood, mango wood, bayur wood, raffia wrapped and handwoven rattan finishes, including narrow entryway console tables and storage console tables with drawers or a lower shelf.
A console table is a narrow table set against a wall, most often in an entryway or behind a sofa. Depth is what defines it: under 16 inches, so a hallway stays walkable. A wood console holds the surface steady for lamps and post, while a storage console table with drawers keeps the surface clear of keys and sunglasses. The Marisol Narrow Solid Wood Console Table and the Josephine Narrow Solid Wood Console Table are built for the tightest hallways.
Work in thirds. A lamp or a tall vase at one end, a low stack of books or a bowl at the other, and the middle third left clear so the table still functions. Anything you place should sit below eye level if a mirror or artwork hangs above it. The Betty Skirted Handwoven Rattan Console Table already carries texture, so it needs fewer objects than the Luna Arched Solid Wood Console Table does.
Pair one with wall mirrors to hang above a console or see the full entryway collection. Our [console table buying guide goes deeper on sizing, and the materials we build with covers the finishes.
30 to 34 inches in an entryway. Behind a sofa, match the sofa back or sit an inch below it, so the console does not read as taller than the seating.
Leave four to eight inches between the console top and the bottom of the mirror. Centre the mirror on the table rather than on the wall, and keep it narrower than the console.
