More 2026 Design Trends

More 2026 Design Trends

Even though it’s still a few weeks away, the year 2026 has several design trends that are already basically set in stone. These range from colors to aesthetic shifts, with interior design moving closer to certain directions while moving away from others. This changes which eras are considered “retro” and “classical,” but it’s the confluence of differing elements that helps make even returning design elements feel fresh once more. East at Main offers different ways to naturally shift to these trends, giving interiors a makeover for the next 12 months

Maximize the Room with Romantic Maximalism

Cozy has been in for a while, but in 2025, a somewhat neoclassical aesthetic became increasingly popular. This manifested with design cues reminiscent of Rococo style and Regency, giving every living room a good amount of palace intrigue. That’s even more the case in 2026, with classy excess and maximalism being the words of the day. At the same time, there must be a sense of purpose and function to the pieces involved, providing for meaningful maximalism.

One example would be the Amelia 27” Rattan Bar Cart, which is eclectic in the best way, all while being more than just an interesting piece to have around the house. Having an almost tropical vibe that makes any room feel like a bar on the beach, the car is also somewhat rustic through the fade on the rattan. Of course, as a bar cart, it’s as defined by its function as it is by the visuals, and its sense of opulence isn’t the only way that it’s on trend. Whether it’s used for an in-home bar or used to hold other everyday items, it can easily become the most useful furniture piece in the house.

Need a lavish, luxurious new addition? The Braided Round Seagrass 30” Mirror looks like something worthy of a Las Vegas stage show, giving arguably tribal vibes through its handwoven, feathery texture. Fitting in as an extra mirror for use in the living room, den, or even the kitchen, it’s a statement piece that truly reflects an air of class wherever it’s placed. When paired with the other pieces, it has the right amount of maximalism that encapsulates the growing trend for useful excess.

Make Kitchens More Intimate with Softer Visuals

While function is still important, 2026 is seeing kitchens take on a softer, almost quieter nature, making for a more inviting space overall. Meant to feel warm and lived-in, the trends for these rooms have also made second kitchens or outdoor kitchens into an increasingly popular home option. One way to invite these more vibrant vibes is with the Enamel Catchall, with these bowls and trays putting an artisanal touch to the counter space.

Having an African-inspired color scheme that comes in either black or green, the Enamel Catchall is sustainably made from mango wood and has an appearance that’s both exotic and modern. This makes it a visually stunning addition to any room, but it vividly makes a kitchen warm and livelier. Use the tray to make party favors even more fun, while the bowl can be a classy receptacle for candy, fruit, or simply function as a centerpiece. The Anya Terracotta Abstract Decorative Bowl is much the same, further emphasizing the classical trends that are becoming bigger than ever in 2026.

Need something colorful to add a bit more space in the kitchen? The Ava Agate Martini Table is a compact 10” wide, making it perfect for hosting fruit baskets or other smaller kitchen items that you’ll want conveniently at arm’s length. There’s also the brilliant color scheme, with the earthy blue tones contrasting well with the gold finish of the handle. Fitting with a variety of décor styles, it’s on trend in a way that makes for an unconventional but welcome part of a more inviting kitchen.

2026 is Down with the Brown

Amid all the other design developments for the coming year, brown is seemingly the color of 2026. In the case of this color, the deeper and more chocolatey, the better, adding to an overall more warmly earthy aesthetic. Even some of the other colors match this concept, with burgundy and other dark hues also becoming popular. The dark brown coloration of the Cyrus Round Storage Coffee Table and Nesting Stool has the stunning umber that’s becoming a trend in the new year.

Acting as both a side table or a coffee table, the organic rounded form helps to separate it from the crowd and really maximize whatever space it activates. Even the other color options (white and beige) still fit within the same parameters, with the shape matching the naturalistic finishes on each version. They all offer a sort of quiet sophistication that feels natural while also having the same expressive style that ties into the year’s growing sense of maximalism.

The Lorena 12” Round Teak Accent Table is another eclectic brown piece that’s much more than just another generic way to take up space. Looking not unlike a round tower of Jenga blocks, these teak wood pieces put natural colors firmly on display with their variable wood grains. It’s perfect for adding other natural elements such as flowers or houseplants, and the differing light and dark shades of brown keep things from being too monotone.
